Terms of Service

Last updated: March 14, 2026

Overview

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of VanChat. By creating an account or using VanChat, you agree to these Terms, our End-User License Agreement, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines. Together, these documents form the complete agreement between you and VanChat.

Eligibility

You must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or of British Columbia, whichever is higher, to use VanChat. In British Columbia the minimum age to use VanChat is 19. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under the required age, we will terminate it and delete associated data within 30 days.

Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to provide accurate information during registration, keep your information current, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. VanChat is not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your account.

Acceptable Use

You agree to follow our Community Guidelines, which defines expected behavior and prohibited content in detail. The following are always prohibited:

  • Violating any applicable laws or regulations, both in your jurisdiction and in Canada
  • Promoting, inciting, or advocating hatred against an identifiable group
  • Inciting, glorifying, or promoting acts of violence, violent extremism, or terrorism
  • Engaging in mischief or vandalism motivated by hate
  • Advocating or promoting genocide
  • Sharing, threatening to share, or soliciting non-consensual intimate images
  • Distributing spam, malware, or other harmful material
  • Impersonating any person or entity
  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of VanChat
  • Interfering with or disrupting VanChat or its infrastructure
  • Harvesting or collecting information about other users without consent
  • Posting, distributing, or soliciting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form
  • Engaging in grooming, predatory contact, or any form of sexual exploitation of minors
  • Attempting to circumvent age restrictions or use VanChat to contact minors for harmful purposes

Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting

VanChat has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, and predatory behavior toward minors. Any such content or conduct will result in immediate and permanent account termination.

Misrepresenting your age to circumvent age restrictions is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination.

VanChat is subject to mandatory reporting obligations under Canadian law, including the Criminal Code (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-46) and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection Act. We will report suspected CSAM and child exploitation to the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (Cybertip.ca), the RCMP, and any other applicable law enforcement agencies. We may also preserve and disclose relevant account data as required by law.

Content

You retain ownership of content you create and share through VanChat. By posting content, you grant VanChat a limited license to store, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate VanChat. VanChat does not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for purposes unrelated to providing VanChat.

Community Rules

Individual Communities on VanChat are self-managed. Community members may establish additional rules for their Communities. VanChat is not responsible for the actions or policies of individual communities.

Reporting and Appeals

If you believe content or behavior violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines, you can report it by contacting support. All reports are reviewed confidentially.

If your account is subject to an enforcement action (warning, suspension, or termination), you may appeal by contacting support within 30 days of the action. Appeals are reviewed by a different member of the VanChat team than the person who took the original action. We will respond to appeals within 14 days. See our Community Guidelines for more detail on enforcement levels and the appeals process.

Enforcement

Violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines may result in graduated enforcement actions:

  • Warning — a notice that specific content or behavior violates our policies, with a request to stop.
  • Content removal — removal of specific content that violates our policies.
  • Temporary suspension — loss of access to VanChat for a defined period (typically 1 to 30 days).
  • Permanent termination — permanent loss of access to VanChat.

The severity of the action depends on the nature and frequency of the violation. Some violations, such as CSAM, result in immediate permanent termination without warning. See our Community Guidelines for examples of which violations lead to which enforcement levels.

Transparency

VanChat is committed to transparency in how we enforce our policies. We will publish periodic transparency reports summarizing the number of enforcement actions taken (warnings, content removals, suspensions, and terminations), the categories of violations involved, and the number of reports received. These reports will not include any personally identifiable information.

Intellectual Property

VanChat and its associated trademarks, logos, and branding are the property of VanChat. You may not use these without prior written permission.

Privacy and Data

Your use of VanChat is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. When you delete your account, VanChat will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data retention, deletion, and your rights.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, VanChat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use VanChat. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or willful misconduct.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. VanChat may suspend or terminate your access in accordance with the enforcement framework described above. Upon termination, your right to use VanChat ceases immediately. See our EULA for details on what happens to your content, data, and any active subscriptions upon termination.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For minor clarifications or corrections, we will post the updated Terms and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes that affect your rights or obligations, we will notify you through VanChat at least 30 days before the changes take effect and ask you to accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept material changes, you may close your account.
